The funeral of a young woman from Co Cavan who sadly passed away over the weekend will be held tomorrow.
eah Farrelly was well known and loved in the local GAA and basketball communities.
Tributes have been paid to the Virginia native since news of her death broke on Friday night.
A message published on funeral website Rip.ie says Ms Farrelly died “unexpectedly” and “peacefully” at her home in Drumina, Virginia on Good Friday.
The note added that Ms Farrelly was the “much beloved and esteemed daughter of Dessie and Nuala and the adoring sister of Grace.”
Ms Farrelly studied at Technological University Dublin and has played Gaelic football with Lurgan Ladies GFC and also basketball with East Cavan Eagles since she was 10 years old.
In a message shared on social media, Lurgan Ladies GFC said: “Our hearts are broken”.
“We send our sincere condolences to Dessie, Nuala & Grace and the extended families Farrelly and Tully on the sudden death of Leah. You are in our thoughts and prayers at this terrible time,” the club said in a tribute.
“Leah has played at our club since she was 10 years old. There are no words for that.
“May Leah rest in peace.”

Meanwhile, East Cavan Eagles Basketball has “no words” to describe the loss.
“Our hearts are broken as we try to come to terms with the devastating news of Leah’s sudden death,” the club wrote on Facebook.
“Leah was a member of our senior ladies team and has played basketball at our club since she was 10 years old. There are no words for that.”
Ms Farrelly worked at Park Rí petrol station in Kells, County Meath, and management has described her as a “gentle soul”.
“Park Rí will make a donation to the ‘CRY’ center (The Center for Heart Risk in Young People) in memory of Leah,” they added.
Mrs. Farrelly will rest at Matthews Funeral Home, Bailieborough Road, Virginia from 4 a.m. until 8 a.m. prayer today.
Her funeral will be held tomorrow at 12 noon at St Patrick’s Church Lurgan, with a memorial service to follow in the adjacent cemetery.
