“There’s plenty of help for people with poor sleep in Brighton”
HER article ‘Homeless on the High Street’ (1 November) brings much needed attention to the plight of those living on the streets of Brighton and Hove.
But I’m sorry that you didn’t provide any information about emergency aid for people. For example, the First Base Day Center operated by BHT Sussex caters for the immediate needs of people on the street, such as toilets and showers, clean and dry clothing, hot drinks and meals, and helps get people off the streets.
As well as First Base there are a number of other fantastic organizations including Clock Tower Sanctuary for young people, Off The Fence and Sussex Homeless Support.
Much is done to help people living on the streets, but “the kindness of strangers” can prevent people from using these services, which can mean an end to rough sleep.
