In an appearance on Netflix’s Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin: Ladies Night Live, comedian Iliza Shlesinger proclaims the term “Karen” as a lazy, misogynistic brushstroke society uses to mock women who assert their consumer rights.

He describes a situation in which a woman who “made a career out of nothing” is confronted with a transaction that is not the one originally agreed. In this case, Shlesinger says, “Damn right, I want to speak to the manager.”
