This Pokemon Legend: Arceus The video starts off showing Hisui’s lovely fields and grasslands, what will eventually be called the Sinnoh region, before diving into some details about the game.
After showing some bits of the area, it will dive into how you will gather raw materials to use for crafting. Craftable items include decoys, healing potions, smoke bombs, and crafting a “mysterious” invention known as a PokeBall. Your group of Pokemon can also help you gather these materials, but most can be found by breaking rocks, picking up trees, and defeating or catching Pokemon in the wild.
After the crafting segment, the video shifts to focus on Pokemon you can catch in the wild. There will be many creatures, weather conditions and time of day will determine which species are lurking around. Different species also have different temperaments. Some like Bidoff will ignore you when you get close, while others like Starly are more sneaky and will run away.
Some Pokemon, like Shinx, are very aggressive and will attack. If you don’t catch the aggressive Pokemon on the first try, it will become more alert and any PokeBall you throw at it will be deflected. So to catch a Pokemon in this state, you’ll have to fight it. Some aggressive Pokemon will damage you and if you take enough damage you will lose power and lose some of your items.
In the game, you will be part of the Survey Corps tasked with cataloging and researching all the Pokemon that live in the area. Not only do you need to catch all kinds of Pokemon, but you also need to watch them use certain moves or display certain behaviors. When you complete this field, you will go to Professor Laventon to hand over your survey report, which will then update your Pokedex as well as increase your rank in the group. You will also receive money from Professor Laventon that can be used to purchase additional materials and items to help you with your research.
Because this area is so large, it will be troublesome if you have to walk continuously. This is where special Pokemon come in. These creatures will help you get where you need to be. The Wyrdeer, the white and fluff version of the Stantler, will help you navigate land faster. Then there’s the regional version of Braviary that will help you travel through the sky. The regional version of Basculin, the Basculegion, will take you across rivers and seas.
There is also the Jubilife Village, which acts as a hub for the Galactic Exploration team. This is a group of people who are studying and living in the Hisui region. There are various legions in the village, and this area will be your hub for your surveying missions. After accepting a quest or quest, and then preparing for it, you will depart from the village to explore one of the different parts of the region. After your survey mission, you will return to the village and once again prepare for another mission. The village also has your own space and has various services such as home decorations, crafts and a trading station where you can trade Pokemon with others.
The video goes on to outline how the various quests and requirements work, shows a Pokemon battle sequence, provides an overview of customization, and showcases noble Pokemon like Kleavor the Lord of the Woods.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus will launch on January 28 for Switch.
