A few months ago I asked my plumber to make some changes.
He told me that my main faucet in the house might need replacing. He decided to turn off the water at the main line on the street.
He came in and said, “Do you know you have a water leak?”
Yes, there was a drop leaking from the connection on my side of the meter. The little silver
Wheel could be seen spinning.
I contacted Southern Water who were there and confirmed the leak and said the gauge and connector needed to be replaced.
Within days they dug a hole and replaced the meter. But what about the leak that wasn’t my fault and I paid for water that just went down the drain?
I was told by the workers that the office would sort it out. My next water bill came in and there was no adjustment.
I called them and they took care of my case very quickly. It was agreed that the increase in water consumption probably dates back to 2015. I got a refund of about £400 on my water bill fairly quickly.
So please check your meter… it might be worth it.
