Evie Toombes – who is from Skegness, Lincolnshire – spoke to presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby during the mid-morning ITV show this morning. She is suing her mother’s GP for damages after saying her birth should not have happened.
She was diagnosed with spina bifida – a condition that means the baby’s spine and spinal cord do not develop in the womb, leading to gaps in the spine – and she must spend a large part of her life on wheelchair.
However, viewers watching today’s ITV show were not impressed with her decision to sue her doctor, as Evie claimed the medical professional was responsible for ‘false conception’ after failing to advise Her mother took supplements before becoming pregnant. .

During the conversation, Evie explained what happened.
“This was the case of a GP who actually admitted giving advice was sloppy,” she began, “My mom specifically went to preconception counseling because she was about to quit. and want to make sure that everything is ok.
“She doesn’t have a family of her own – usually you’ll probably go to see her mom – she doesn’t have her mom with her so just wanted to talk to her GP and find out if everything is okay. “
She added: “And as she went, she specifically asked if she needed a folic acid supplement. Right after that, the doctor said folic acid wasn’t necessary and then what would happened when I was born, and my mom was looking. having a second child and making sure she could do something to prevent it from happening again, that really she should be told about folic acid.”
