Today, on This Morning, Alison Hammond and Dermott O’Leary met Europe’s top speed racer, Leah Shutkever.
As part of a segment on the show, Leah managed to eat all 19 chicken nuggets in just 60 seconds – and succeeded, she finished her last sip when the timer hit 0.
Some were impressed with the challenge, including the two presenters, but some in the audience expressed outrage at what they saw.
Taking to Twitter, fans admitted that they had to ‘shut down’ the show after seeing the challenge because they were angry about the ‘waste of food’ at a time when many families ‘barely can’t afford to eat’. .
Others expressed annoyance because this segment can trigger people with eating disorders.

Some consider the chicken challenge ‘cowardly’, ‘unemotional’ and encourage This Morning to ‘read the room’.
One person tweeted: “What a bad editorial decision to have someone gobble up a plate of chicken balls in 60 seconds when so many families are struggling to feed their families. Think about it. think more carefully.”
Another said: “Who thinks chicken nugget lady is a good piece of work? When people are devastated, struggling to feed their families and pay the bills, you’re showing this! Kind of out of touch.”
A Tuesday posted: “One minute #Lorraine Next, talking about unnecessary food waste, some ridiculous woman needlessly stuffs nuggets in chicken. Also scream when some ppl are struggling to feed the kids. Had to turn off. ”
Another user wrote: “OMG. Just pause that woman stuffed with chicken nuggets is absolutely vile, must be terrible for anyone with an eating disorder, shame on you!”
Another stated: “ITV Yesterday morning paid tribute to Nikki Graham who died of anorexia and today a grumpy woman swallowed speed without chewing. 20 chicken nuggets in 60 seconds.
While a sixth added: “What a disgusting dish on This Morning. Chicken stew in your mouth. That doesn’t reduce awareness of eating disorders or obesity.”
