This Morning fans slammed the ITV show over an insensitive tasting segment where the presenters drank a £130 bottle of water.
Viewers watching the mid-morning ITV show this morning were left disappointed by the water tasting segment, in which presenters Alison Hammond and Josie Gibson sample a bottle of water that costs £130 each.
Between the terrible events unfolding in Ukraine and the cost-of-living crisis affecting many families in the UK, viewers question whether the time is right to have a segment like this.
Angry fans took to social media to criticize the segment, where the presenters were joined by a sommelier.
“It’s true that a WAR is kicking in, where people are literally losing everything, but they’re tasting a £130 bottle of water on #This morning,” wrote one angry fan online, as another added: “130 pounds for water. We are having a cost of living crisis. You need to really. ”
” #This morning £130 for a bottle of water… the audience is aiming for that. I’ll stick to tap water, thanks!! “A third wrote, with a fourth pen:” Bills rise, people literally, wars begin but #this morning is telling us about £130 bottled water. Sound.”
A fifth person wrote: “130 pounds f***ing pounds….F**k off! #This morning Cost of living crisis! ”
“130 pounds for a bottle of water… oh please lower the price!! #This morning Fake and unnecessary,” one fan added: “So people can’t afford to eat and heat in their homes and we’re displaying £130 worth of water bottles. #keepingitreal. ”
Another wrote: “Whose dinner table is a £130 water bottle start the conversation at! Nonsense nonsense. #ThisMorning.”
In the tasting segment, Josie and Alison were joined by a ‘water comparator’ who discussed different types of water with the couple as they tasted the water options.
Tasting the water, Alison asked if it was expensive. The water expert replied, “Price creates conversation.” Alison admits it was “delicious” and “very smooth”. He then revealed the price of water was £130 a bottle.
Shocked by the price, the waterer defended the high price as he added: “It’s not for hydration. It’s for experience. It’s harvesting. It takes days by boat, to be dumped. hand filled from a melting glacier.
“It’s a beautiful story. You’ll love it.”
