This Morning: Holly and Phil reflect on social distancing at a standstill
This Morning viewers were quick to accuse Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield of lying during Wednesday’s screening.
In the latest installment of the ITV programme, the presenting duo marked two years since Prime Minister Boris Johnson brought Britain to a standstill.
Upon viewing the Prime Minister’s televised speech from March 2020 as well as a clip of Holly and Phil explaining why they are social distancing on the sofa, Holly commented: “Life of We’ve changed unthinkable.”
When the camera shot to her and Phillip in the studio, the mother-of-three said: “Well, I think when I said that, if you told me it was going to take two years, I wouldn’t have believed it!
“But it’s been two years and it’s finally been worth the wait, Mr. Schofield!” Holly added as Phillip replied: “Absolutely!”

The couple then hugged, but viewers couldn’t believe it was the first time they’ve cuddled up in two years.
On Twitter, one person posted: “Like they haven’t hugged and what no behind the scenes all this time…. #thismorning.”
Another viewer asserted: “They didn’t wait 2 years, don’t fool us #ThisMorning.”

A third tweeted: “Philip and holly need to give up acting too.. we know you’ve been hugging from now on.. shameful! #ThisMorning.”
Referring to their debut date at Wimbledon last year, another viewer posted: “It’s been 2 years, how’s Wimbledon #ThisMorning.”
Holly and Phil invited couple therapists Nik and Eva Speakman on Wednesday’s show, as well as Dr Philippa Kaye, as they discuss how life has changed over the past 24 months.
But viewers watching at home simply found the segment rather dull as one person tweeted: “God, get over the #ThisMorning bucket.”
Another viewer tweeted: “Phil and Holly are just adorable of #ThisMorning.”
Another joked: ” #This morning Here’s Speakmans to cure two people with a fear of lying about not hugging each other for 2 years. ”
However, some viewers were surprised to see Holly and Phillip hugging again as one tweeted: “Holly and Phillip are hugging crying #ThisMorning”, followed by a smiling face emoji cry.
This Morning airs at 10 a.m. weekdays on ITV and ITV Hub.
