This Morning’s Dermot O’Leary was embarrassed to make a mistake on live television today.
The 48-year-old returned to host the ITV show mid-morning today alongside host Alison Hammond, as the pair led the show with interviews with the stars of SAS: Who Dares Wins and The Split.
As part of their Friday show, the pair also featured Martin Fry from ’80s pop group ABC, who came on the show to perform the group’s hit single The Look of Love. and have a quick chat about the band’s upcoming live shows.
However, today presenter Dermot had to blush because he made a mistake with the automatic function.
As they finished their conversation, Alison saw Martin off to join the rest of the group as the camera turned to Dermot and Alison, who were ready to introduce the performance.
“A reminder that ABC’s anniversary tour will begin this June,” Dermot began, before pausing as Alison looked into the camera. There is a brief moment of silence before Dermot laughs at his mistake.
He said: “With a very special performance – sorry I thought it was you – with a very special performance at the Royal Albert Hall, ahh sorry!” before Alison ended with: “But now playing their iconic Look Of Love, that’s ABC.”
Alison and Dermot have been hosting the Friday show together for a while now and they’re really enjoying their current partnership, and the pair are quickly able to work out any differences.
“We’re so honest with each other now, we say to each other, ‘Can you please stop doing that. I don’t like that,'” Alison said. “It’s the little things, nothing like that. important. He stole my lines and he didn’t keep up with my life on Instagram.”
Dermot added of their first meeting: “We never took a test drive, never read the script, didn’t even have lunch together. We actually met for the first time in 15 years or so. over and that morning we presented two-and-a-half hours of live television together.
“The idea that there won’t be any time to get to know each other is crazy.”
