Holly Willoughby struggled to hold back her tears on This Morning today.
The presenter was speaking to a mother who lost one of her twins 20 years ago at Shrewsbury hospital, which is now facing a huge scandal after a report revealed that At least 201 infants and 9 mothers may have survived. received appropriate care at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.
Holly and Phil spoke to the mother who had suffered the tragic loss and as she shared her story, Holly – a mother of three – was moved by the terrible tragedy the woman faced. .
Debbie Greenaway explained her heartbreaking story, telling Holly and Phil: “So I went on Wednesday with two healthy 7lb kids, no problem. I was induced on Wednesday morning Not much happened, it was pretty slow and then towards the end of the second day, that was the first time the midwife couldn’t find John’s heartbeat.
“It’s been three hours, can’t find it, can’t find it. Wonderful midwife, very caring. Counseling doctors come and go. Absolutely no contact information. I don’t know what kind of injections I was given. . and why.”
Debbie revealed that she later found out that they were trying to get a sample of John’s blood.
“A consultant, I only found out later, was trying to get a fetal blood sample from John, they basically cut off his head to find his oxygen level. They never explained what they were doing. , she didn’t talk at all. I think she was rescuing them, I was in so much pain,” she explained to Holly’s heartbroken look as she entered the hospital.
She said she was denied a cesarean section by the hospital, despite saying she would be happy to have a cesarean.
“The decision to have a cesarean section was made, and about half an hour later there should have been more delay,” explained Debbie, before revealing the heartbreaking news that her son had passed away.
However, in one of the most heartbreaking episodes of the story, Debbie was given her son – who had sadly passed away – and thought he was still alive.
Holly is absolutely devastated by Debbie’s admission as she tries to hold back her tears.
