Three common mistakes all drivers must avoid in hot weather

A HOME safety expert has uncovered three common mistakes that all drivers MUST avoid in hot weather.
locksmith Elizabeth Johns said Brits often leave their engines unlocked while washing them when temperatures soar.
Riders then walk away for a split second to fill their bucket of water or look inside – giving robbers ample time to strike.
Elizabeth also told how Brits roll down their windows, making their car an easy target.
The third mistake the pros often see is that Brits cool down their homes by leaving the windows open.
If this happens overnight or while you’re away, burglars could gain access to easily accessible car keys and make off with your vehicle in seconds.


Elizabeth – owner of Locksmith L & E GmbH – told The Sun: “When you’re cleaning your car you might have the full car open. The keys might be nearby.
“Even if you go in for two minutes – that’s all you need car to be taken from the driveway.
“Of course people are very trusting. We’re like, ‘Oh, I’ll just go in for a few minutes, I’ll leave the whole car open while I clean it.’
“It only takes a split second for someone to see it’s there and the keys are there.

“And if they don’t take the car, they might have an opportunity to take whatever was left in the car.”
She told how expensive sunglasses and money are often easy targets for crooks – and urged motorists to be “on the alert”.
Elizabeth added: “Someone I know left their bag on her kitchen worktop and when her kitchen door was unlocked someone ran in, grabbed the bag with the keys and stole the car.
“They never got it back.
“This is not willful theft.
