“Of course, the asking price of an EV is often higher than a petrol or diesel equivalent, but Vanarama’s research shows that everyday savings are now tilted in favor of electric vehicles.”
Here’s how you can save money.
Low Emission Area
Low-emission zones (LEZ) charge drivers of high-polluting cars to encourage them to use more eco-friendly ways of getting around in those areas.

No need to pay for fuel
The study also found that not paying for fuel at the pump could save around £72 a month.
According to experts, this works out to £858 per year and £3,432 per average total car ownership.
The spokesperson added: “Fuel economy, from NimbleFins, including the cost of EV charging, is based on a UK driver’s average annual mileage of 7,600 miles.”
Car tax free
Some electric vehicle owners are exempt from the car tax – saving around £13 a month.
As a result of the research, this works out to £150 per year and £600 per average total car ownership without paying auto tax.
