THREE major criminal gangs have joined forces to smuggle €3.1 million worth of cocaine into Ireland, the Irish Sun can reveal.
Investigators from Garda The National Drug Administration and Organized Crime Prevention believe the mob once provided cash to arrange the massive 45kg shipment.
But their plan failed when the drugs – hidden in a secret compartment in the trailer – were GNDOCB and Customs officers at Dublin Port on Saturday afternoon. Gardai believes the gangs are based in Dublin and Limerick.
A lorry driver, 46 years old, was arrested on a large stretch of road but has since free release. A file is being prepared for DPP.
Seizures occurred after 1.4 million euros worth cocaine was found hidden inside a watermelon a week ago. We can also reveal that the primary target of this joint investigation is the “supporters” of Irish organized crime networks, who have a global reach.
COMPANIES WORKING WITH US Crimins
Currently, some of the main transnational criminal gangs operating in Ireland include Kinahan cartel, Mr. Big’s Gang and ‘Family.’
But gardai has also identified legitimate companies that it suspects are working closely with criminal gangs.
