Three tourists each face up to 10 years in prison after being charged in the death of an adult Russian model found dead on a Thai island.

The holidaymakers were arrested after webcam girl Evgenia Smirnova, 37, fell from an eighth-floor balcony in Phuket, Thailand, in the early hours of May 31.

Jamaal Smith (38) from the US was arrested along with Natalia Kosenkova (35) from Russia and Ahmad Radi Mustafa Alatoom (28) from Jordan.

Police have now charged each of them with “danger of death” after drugs, alcohol and used condoms were found in a room at the Emerald Terrace Resort near Patong Island’s notorious red-light district.

Police Chief Lt-Gen Amphon Buarapphon said: “The three suspects have been charged with manslaughter. The investigation has not yet been completed. More evidence is still being gathered and more charges may be brought.”

Employees at Emerald Terrace Resort told police that four people, including Evgenia, had stayed in the 8th floor room and that there was a low-edged spiral staircase in front of their room that connected to the 7th floor.

Police said the fall occurred in a block of flats in the Phrabarami Road area of the city. It’s a short walk from the Bangla Road red-light district, popular with Russian, Australian, and British sex tourists.

Police present at the scene found bottles, glasses of alcohol, an unwrapped condom, an opened black condom wrapper, an ashtray and cigarettes in the room. The room’s sliding door was left open and there was no sign of intrusion or raiding of the room.

Evgenia’s body was found lying face down, wearing a dark blue dress with red patterns. Her head was bleeding and she was holding strands of hair in her right hand.

It is reported that she had social media accounts under a pseudonym and was live streamed on an adult website until shortly before her death.

In one video, she introduced herself as, “Hey, I’m a web model. Glad to see you in my room.”

She traveled to Phuket, Thailand, on May 25, where her body was found in the early hours of Tuesday.

After the incident in the vibrant nightlife district, Kosenkova was arrested along with two men, apparently on suspicion of drug use, according to the Bangkok Post.

Police reports cite a “sex, drug and alcohol party” at the Emerald Terrace residential complex in Patong, Phuket, where Smirnova fell to his death.

The arrested woman said she was later released and denied reports in Thai media that the party was about sex and drugs, despite claims that condom wrappers and finely ground cannabis were found by Thai authorities, who have been notoriously strict related to drug use.

She said: “I didn’t know Evgenia Smirnova until that evening. I didn’t know the girl, she just came to the party we were at.

“And she called her friend, who also came and behaved inappropriately.

“I can say that me and my friend, who I have known for a long time, behaved with dignity and decency.

“The police trust us. The police say they are not worried about us.”

Smirnova was originally from Nizhny Novgorod in Russia but had moved to the capital, Moscow.
