Thriftify, the online platform for 98 percent of Ireland’s charity shops, has received a €1.6 million investment as the company accelerates its expansion plans.

The investment was led by the Halo Business Angel Network Impact Syndicate, which included participation from Themvar VC and angel investors including former River Island executive Ben Lewis.

It follows continued growth in the UK market for the sustainable e-commerce company as well as improvements in the company’s technology. These improvements now enable Thriftify to automatically score every clothing donation and then list them on its own website as well as on several online marketplaces such as eBay, Facebook and Depop.

Thriftify also handles customer support and order fulfillment.

As part of the company’s growth, Thriftify has also announced plans to add twenty new jobs over the next 12 months. The new roles are primarily in the sales and marketing departments as the company wants to increase its online presence. The new positions also include roles with a focus on technology and e-commerce.

“As a team, we are absolutely thrilled to have the resources we need to fundamentally transform the fashion industry,” said Chief Executive Rónán Ó Dálaigh.

“We’ve been very lean and lean for a long time and while we still remain true to that, we’ll be investing in some notable hires and areas that we know will have a huge impact overall, it’s definitely the most exciting time.” on our journey so far,” he added.

Thriftify has grown by around 300 percent since its launch in 2018. With almost all Irish charity dealers registered on the site, the platform is now aiming to have all UK charity dealers on board by the end of next year.

The company now employs 30 full time staff with offices in Dublin and London.
