Through optical illusion, a gaping hole appears in the middle of the road that scares motorists

AN OPTICAL ILLUSION frightened drivers into thinking a gaping hole appeared in the middle of a busy road.
Video of the potential hazard shows motorists nervously trying to avoid the mirage by applying the brakes and driving around it.
But the hole turned out to be nothing more than a puddle of sparkling water that had collected on one side of the wall Milwaukee Street.
The clip has already garnered more than 9.3 million views on Twitter and another 2.2 million on the Instagram account where it was posted originally posted.
The man behind the camera makes an animated comment as he watches others being tricked into believing the road has collapsed as well.
As he approaches the puddle, he says, “It’s just a pit. On the driveway. They didn’t lock that shit up or nothing.
“Watch out for this guy coming. He’s coming behind me.”
He talks while watching the driver – who probably also feels threatened – slow down and drive around the puddle.
Another motorist then speeds toward the mock crater, only to experience the same discomfort and slams on the brakes with a heavy foot.
The man filming says, “Holy shit. Oh, it’s water… It looks like a pit, doesn’t it?

A number of people took to Twitter to reveal that they experienced a roller coaster of emotions while watching the clip.
One person admitted: “you had me.”
Another wrote: “That second car had my heart in my throat man. Damned.”
Someone else said: “I was very scared when the second car came up behind the first one.
“If I ever see something like this I’ll definitely back up without blinking twice, can’t risk my precious life.”
But some were not so easily fooled as they could immediately spot the puddle of water instead of a hole.
One person wrote: “It’s not a mirage, it’s water”.
Another said: “I realized in 4 seconds it was water!”

It comes as another optical illusion is touted to reveal your personality traits at a glance, but be warned – only a tiny fraction of the population will notice either image first.
The illusion appeared on BrightSide, a YouTube channel that shares amazing optical illusions and deciphers their meaning.
