THUNDERSTORMS and torrential downpours will bring an abrupt end to the heatwave tomorrow.
A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for Sussex from 10am tomorrow until the end of the day.
The Met Office said that while some showers could start the day, these are likely to become more widespread and heavier as the morning progresses into the afternoon.
They also warned that spray and sudden flooding could make for difficult driving conditions, with a low chance of homes and businesses being flooded quickly, along with a low chance of power outages.
The change in weather comes just days after a drought was declared in Sussex and south-east England, with wildfires spreading across the county as a result of dry conditions.

The Met Office’s deputy chief meteorologist Jason Kelly said: “The current hot weather will give way to an outbreak of thunderstorms from the west, which will spread south and east early next week.
“Before that, isolated but intense thunderstorms are possible on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
“The warnings highlight the likelihood of around 50mm of rain falling in some locations in the north over a three-hour period, while some areas further south may experience around 300mm of rain in a three-hour period.
“Hail and frequent lightning are also possible as part of these downpours and pose an additional hazard.”
A yellow weather warning for extreme heat will remain in effect until the end of the day after temperatures reached above 30C across Sussex.
Thousands have flocked to the beach in recent days as the heatwave returned, and firefighters across the county also responded to dozens of fires as conditions stayed dry.
However, tomorrow’s forecast for Brighton is significantly cooler at just 22C, with cloudy and sunny intervals.
Rain is also expected later in the week, with light showers on Tuesday and heavier showers on Wednesday.
