TikTok goes down: The app stops working in sudden outage for thousands of users

TIKTOK is down for some users on Tuesday, preventing them from watching videos or loading their feeds.
Problems began to appear on the site around 3:20pm UK time on Tuesday, according to online outage trackers.
The problem was fixed within an hour.
More than 1,000 Brits reported that the app on website DownDetector, which monitors service downtime, was not working.
The issue does not appear to have affected users in the United States.
65% of the reports said they had trouble loading the app.

Twenty-two percent said they had trouble connecting to servers, while 12 percent said they couldn’t load the app’s feed.
It’s not immediately clear what caused the problem. It is also unclear what percentage of users was affected.
The Sun reached out to TikTok for comment.
Users took to Twitter to vent their frustration at the unexpected downtime.
One user said: “Is tiktok down? Don’t come, I was looking for something now.”
Another wrote: “Is anyone else’s Tiktok down or is it just mine?”
And a third tweeted: “IS TIKTOK DOWN??? My videos are gone.”
Launched in 2018, TikTok has quickly become one of the most popular apps in the world, with an estimated one billion users.
It is owned by Beijing-based ByteDance. The Chinese version of the app, named Douyin, was created in 2016.
Users post and watch short videos of them dancing, lip-synching, acting out skits, and more.
Failures are rare for the company. The last major hiccup hit TikTok on September 15, 2022.
