TikTok has agreed to lease the entire Tropical Fruit Warehouse office development in Dublin’s Docklands from Iput Real Estate.
According to property investor Iput, Dublin’s largest owner of office space, ikTok will lease the development long-term.
The Tropical Fruit Warehouse project is a six story project covering 85,000 square feet. It is also the last remaining warehouse on the quays, dating from 1892. Originally used to import tropical fruit to Ireland, the development now includes the restored warehouse building and two new floors of offices.
“The letting of the Tropical Fruit Warehouse demonstrates that demand from global occupiers for quality, sustainable office space in Dublin remains unabated,” said Niall Gaffney, Chief Executive of Iput Real Estate.
TikTok announced plans to create 1,000 new jobs at its Dublin operations in June. The social media giant’s move is expected to take the company’s total employment in Ireland to over 3,000 people.
The company last year signed a long-term lease for additional office space in Dublin’s Grand Canal Dock. The Sorting Office superstructure offers space for up to 2,000 employees.
Earlier this month, ReactNews reported that social media plans to take another office space at Sir John Rogerson’s Quays in Docklands have stalled. The 180,000-square-foot development was restarted for lease when TikTok ended talks.
