TikTok star (21) dies after “opening the parachute too late” while skydiving

TikTok influencer Tanya Pardazi has died in a tragic skydiving accident at the age of 21.

According to friends of the former Miss Canada semifinalist, Pardazi died on August 27 while conducting the activity in Ontario, Canada.

According to a statement from the skydiving company, Pardazi deployed her parachute too late during her first airborne solo course.

The aspiring beauty queen was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Skydive Toronto said in a statement: “A 21-year-old student skydiver succumbed to fatal injuries sustained in an emergency situation.

“The skydiver deployed a rapidly rotating main parachute at low altitude without the time/altitude required to inflate the reserve chute.”

It added: “The Skydive Toronto team is currently working with South Simcoe Police on their investigation.

“The skydiver was a welcome addition to the skydiving community and will be missed among the Skydive Toronto Inc. student’s new friends and fellow skydivers.”

Skydive Toronto said it was “deeply affected by this accident as they have been refining their student education program for over 50 years”.

A spokesman for the South Simcoe Police Service confirmed an investigation was ongoing.

Pardazi, who had nearly 100,000 TikTok followers, previously competed in the Miss Canada beauty pageant and reached the semifinals in 2017. She was also enrolled at the University of Toronto, where she majored in philosophy.
