In 2014, about six months before the release of “Age of Ultron”, Crave Online (via MovieWeb) asked Tim Roth if he would ever return to the Marvel universe. Here’s what he had to say:
“They would [bring me back]. They did that. They’re thinking, in ‘The Avengers 2’ or something. There’s a movie we can do that at a time, but back when. I guess it’s like getting caught under the rug. That would be very funny. “
Roth’s comments are a bit vague, so it’s hard to say what role Abomination might play in “Age of Ultron.” If we were to speculate, the easiest place in the finished film to put him in would be when the Scarlet Witch-controlled Hulk rampages across South Africa and fights Tony Stark in Hulkbuster armor. Just exchange Hulk for Abomination. Of course, this very scene could make Blonsky’s role in the film redundant; there can’t be two big, green-skinned monsters running around. Another possibility is that Ultron may have recruited the Abomination for his purposes. In the film, he convinces the Maximoff twins to work for him by expressing their grudge against Iron Man.
However, it is also unconfirmed that Abomination is considered to appear at any stage of development. When Marvel contacted Roth, the story for “Age of Ultron” might not resemble the final version as much. In other words, the alternative “Avengers 2” featuring Roth could be a completely different movie from the one we have.
