Tipping Point: Contestant answers ‘Rihanna’ to music question

Tipping Point fans got a good laugh during Thursday’s season of the hit ITV game show, when an eager quizster engaged in a movie-themed quiz.

ITV contestant Darien was tasked with answering a series of questions by host Ben Shephard.

One of them came up when Ben asked, “Which Hollywood composer wrote the music for The Lion King, Inception and Pearl Harbor?”

Contestant Andrew chose to pass the question on to Darien, who struggled to answer, telling host Ben he didn’t know any Hollywood composers.

He decided to crash headfirst into an answer, leaving ITV audiences gasping when he guessed 34-year-old singer Rihanna was 13 when Pearl Harbor premiered in 2001.

Darien said: “I can’t think of anything. At this stage, I’m going to have to speculate and look for… Rihanna.”

ITV viewers howled at the reply and turned to Twitter to giggle along with Ben Shephard, who smiled in response to the mistake.

One person wrote: “Oh my God!! Someone save me!!! Rihanna ??? !!!! ” as someone else posted: “That’s the funniest answer ever.”

The popular ITV show is celebrating a decade of airing with a new series starting next week.

A smiling third viewer posted: “Oh my… Rihanna, my parents are crying from laughing.”

Another tweeted: “She was even born when Pearl Harbor premiered,” and another wrote: “Rihanna… that world famous Hollywood composer.”

One ITV fan posted: “Rihanna! Flipping great stuff, “as another wrote:” What Hollywood composer wrote The Lion King, Inception and Pearl Harbor… and he said RIHANNA?! “

The awkward moment reminded fans of a viral episode from last October, when host Ben asked elementary school teacher Dom: “In his epic poems, Homer often mentions secrets flowers are the drink of the gods and what other substance is their food?”

Dom replied, “I know he likes donuts,” Ben looked surprised by the answer. “I think I’ll go with the donuts, please, Ben.”

The moment last October went viral with millions of people watching it around the world, but Ben insists answering quiz questions to try to win £10,000 was not as easy as imagined. .

“I can’t think of anything. At this stage, I’m going to have to speculate and look for… Rihanna.”

Ben has said that the silliest answers on his test came from being pressured, and he claims that he “frequently makes a fool of himself” in his final moments on the floor. room.

“These people are under pressure in an environment and their minds go blank and they can’t think of anything and the words don’t make sense,” says Ben. And I just have so much admiration for all of them.

“There have been some amazing responses, but it’s fair to all the participants, it was incredibly brave of them to take on the machine. And I hate to think that someone is going to be nervous about walking in because they’re worried about making a fool of themselves, because I’ve done that on a number of occasions and continue to make my own. I become stupid all the time.

“And I think anyone can do it, when you’re under that kind of pressure. And hopefully they feel like we’re laughing at them and not at them, because I hate that case. “
