Tip: Contestants discuss the Bee Gees . brothers

Tipping Point host Ben Shephard made a mistake on Monday night’s ITV gameshow, prompting speculation from viewers soon after.

Ben was asking a contestant about the band the Bee Gees, made up of band members and brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb.

But the mention of their younger brother Andy Gibb made it seem like Ben had made a pretty big mistake, which went unnoticed by fans familiar with the four brothers.

The question is: “Which of the three Gibb brothers that make up the Bee Gees is NOT a twin?”

One contestant, Tracy, said: “I think I remember having a Rob or Bob, a Robin Gibb. I would play and I would say Robin.”

Ben then quipped: “You went with Robin. Now you play because you thought Karen would know.”

He then asked contestant Karen if she “entered the Bee Gees”, and if she could name them.

Karen said: “I forgot Robin, can I remember it was Andy and Maurice? I could have gone Maurice.”

Tracy then learns her answer is wrong, and Ben tells them, “It’s actually Barry. Barry is the brother you didn’t name, without Andy. Robin and Maurice are twins.”

While some fans assume he’s alluding to Andy’s absence in the band, others are sure Ben believes there are only three brothers in general.

On Twitter, fans were quick to call him out and correct the mistake, directly messaging him to say he’d made a mistake – with one joking that he had “deleted” Andy from history.

One viewer commented: “Not an Andy Gibb… interesting comment from Ben about Tipping Point.”

A second fan wrote: “No Andy Gibb? Who’s the impostor pretending to be their brother @benshephard?”

Another wrote: “Wrong Ben! YES Andy Gibb, but he’s not in the band.”

A fourth fan commented: “No Andy?! Bloody Ben!” as a fifth added: “@benshephard, I think you’ll see there’s an Andy Gibb.”

Tipping Point airs at 4pm on weekdays on ITV.
