Tom Brady retires as he confirms 23rd season in NFL

Legendary quarterback Tom Brady has made a shocking announcement that he will be returning to the NFL for his 23rd season to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a month after taking a break.

Brady, 44, announced in early February that he had decided to use the time for his illustrious career.

But after thinking for a while, he changed his mind and will return to the pitch for the 23rd season.

“In the past two months, I have realized that my position is still on the field, not in the stands,” he wrote on Twitter.

“That time will come. But not now. I love my teammates, and I love my family who always support me. They made it all possible.

“I’ll be back for my 23rd season in Tampa. LFG unfinished business.”

Tom Brady announced in February that he was retiring from American football

Brady is considered by many to be the greatest quarterback of all time and has won a record seven Super Bowls.

He won six rings with the New England Patriots before moving to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2020/21 season, where he won a seventh.

In his announced retirement In early February, he said the decision had been made due to the “physical, mental and emotional challenges” of the sport.

“I’ve always believed that the sport of football is an ‘all in’ proposition – without that 100% commitment to being competitive there you won’t be successful and success is what I love so much about my game. us,” he wrote at the time.

“Having a physical, mental and emotional challenge EVERY day has allowed me to reach my highest potential. And I’ve been trying my best for the past 22 years. There are no shortcuts. lead to success on the court or in life.

“This has been tough for me to write, but here it is: I’m not making that competitive commitment anymore. I’ve loved my NFL career, and now it’s time to focus my time and energy. my energy for other things that require my attention.”

He has now decided to reverse that decision and return to play with the Bucs for another season.

After winning the Super Bowl in 2021, Tampa Bay lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the knockout stages in last season’s playoffs.

Earlier this month, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians was asked if Brady left the door open to a return.

“He slammed it shut when I talked to him,” he replied bluntly.

Brady was in the UK watching Manchester United host Tottenham on Saturday, as a guest at Old Trafford.

From the stands, he tweeted: “Here we go! @Cristiano vs @HKane. I’ll probably punch if you score Harry but I’ll go with @ManUtd today.”

After witnessing Cristiano Ronaldo’s heroics first-hand, the former New York Patriots star was seen chatting with United’s No 7 on the field.

The Americans also posed for pictures with several other members of the United team.

Ronaldo took to his own account to share a photo with Brady along with the caption: “It’s always been a pleasure and a privilege to share some thoughts and ideas with another GOAT… “
