Co-star Jennifer Connelly – who plays the actor’s love affair in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ – says the ‘Mission: Impossible’ star is a real go-getter
Tom Cruise took his Top Gun co-star’s breath away with a thrilling ride in his vintage plane.
Jennifer Connelly, who plays the actor’s love affair in the sequel Top Gun: Maverick, opened up about how aerobatic ace Tom is a real go-getter.
And he even took her for a ride in his very own WWII Mustang.
Jennifer, 51, said: “That was pretty extraordinary. He’s actually a licensed aerobatic pilot, which I didn’t know beforehand. I don’t think I even thought about the fact that aerobatic pilots exist.”
Jennifer was just 15 years old when the first “Top Gun” movie, in which Cruise played the daring Navy pilot Maverick, was released 36 years ago.
In the sequel, she plays Penny – a single mom who runs the bar where flight school graduates drink.

Cruise, 59, who has been a pilot for 28 years, also flies his own Gulfstream private jet. He does many of his own film stunts in airplanes and helicopters, including 2018’s Mission Impossible: Fallout.
He’s not the only action star chasing the thrill.
Steve McQueen raced motorcycles and cars, and Harrison Ford, 79, also flies planes and helicopters.
