Tom Holland reveals he’s been sober for over a year

Tom Holland’s recent role has helped him better relate to his own mental health.
The Spiderman: No Way Home star shared it Weekly entertainment In an article published on Tuesday, he explained that he’s been sober for a year and four months – and that his role in the upcoming Apple TV+ miniseries The Crowded Room has allowed him to create his own “triggers” and “things that stress me” to recognize.”
In the upcoming series, which premieres June 9, Holland will play Danny, a teenager whose sanity is questioned after he is arrested for a crime he may not have committed.
“It was very life enlightening to learn about mental health and its power and to talk to psychiatrists about Danny’s issues,” Holland explained.
“I’m no stranger to the physical aspects of the job, the whole action film thing,” Holland continued. “But the mental aspect really blew me away and it took me a long time to recover afterwards and sort of come back to reality.”
Holland admitted nine months into filming The Crowded Room that he found it difficult to separate his own identity from that of his character.
“I saw myself in him, but in my private life,” recalls the actor – who is dating fellow Spider-Man co-star Zendaya. “I remember having a nervous breakdown at home and thinking, ‘I’m going to shave my head.’ I have to shave my head because I have to get rid of this character.’”
The actor said he decided against it because they were in the middle of filming, but described the incident as “unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.”
Holland told Entertainment Weekly that one of his triggers is social media, and he’s used some of it Breaks in social media throughout his career. In August 2022, when the actor announced that he would be taking another breakHe explained that when I read about myself online, he “gets caught up and into a tailspin,” explaining that using apps like Instagram and Twitter can be “very detrimental to my mental state.”
