Tom Jones issues health update after canceling show
A health update on his social media accounts in the early hours of Wednesday said he woke up Tuesday morning with an “uncomfortable throat”.
He was diagnosed with viral laryngitis later in the day, but made it clear he collapsed “nowhere, at any time”.
The statement read: “Hello to everyone involved: I was traveling to Budapest from the UK last night and woke up this morning with a sore throat. A specialist came to visit and diagnosed ‘viral laryngitis’. He strongly advised to postpone tonight’s show and prescribed medication and vocal rest.
“I have never ‘collapsed’, this is purely a rumour. Hopefully the inflammation will calm down soon as I look forward to continuing my wonderful summer tour.
“Unfortunately the show had to be canceled at the last minute and I’m very sorry about that. However, the show in Budapest has been postponed and will take place on August 16th. Thank you again for all your kind care.”
He signed the message “TJ”.
He’s visited cities like Amsterdam, Denmark and Madrid on his Surrounded By Time tour, and he’s set to play almost 20 more concerts this summer, including a handful in the UK.
