Tom Parker, who tragically died after a two-year battle with brain cancer, previously revealed how he postponed his wedding to Kelsey Hardwick to pursue his dream of starring in the musical Grease
Tom Parker has postponed his wedding to pursue his dream of playing Danny in Grease The Musical.
The 33-year-old singer – who tragically lost his life to brain cancer today – asked Kelsey Hardwick to marry him in 2016.
But after he was chosen to play heartthrob Danny Zuko in the touring production of retro favorite Grease, they didn’t wed until July 2018.
He starred alongside former EastEnders actress Louisa Lytton, who played Rizzo on the show, which opened in March 2017.
Speaking to Hello magazine at the time, Tom said: “We wanted to make sure we plan everything right and I don’t want to take two weeks off, get married, honeymoon for a week and then go back on tour I don’t think I do that I would be happy with that.”
“We saw so many venues. But you know what – I have a feeling that the wedding is the girls’ day and their dream.
“I mean, Kelsey knows what she wants and how she wants it, so I let her fix it and just give her my credit card if she needs to,” he added.
Reflecting on his role as the coolest guy at Rydell High School, Tom said he believes there’s “a little bit of Danny Zuko” in every man.
Adds that most guys are “soppy” under the boast.
Though he admitted he was probably more of a Eugene than a T-Bird when he was in school.
He said he was bullied at school and reflected on how children stole his GCSE school notes and dropped them on the cricket pitch, only for them to be destroyed by the rain.
But he joked that he had the last laugh and that being in a boy band is like a T-bird.
Tom has left behind his beloved wife Kelsey, whom he married on a farm in Surrey after they were together for over ten years.
Free spirit Kelsey said she dreamed of tying the knot outdoors and called her big day “perfect”.
The couple met outside a nightclub in London and it was love at first sight for both of them.
Kelsey said OK! in 2020: “It was literally love at first sight. I saw him outside a nightclub in London and I grabbed my boyfriend and said, ‘Oh my god, I love him'”.
And Tom agreed, revealing, “As soon as I saw her, I knew I saw her as the mother of my children.”
Kelsey shared the heartbreaking news of losing her husband in a post on her Instagram.
Sharing a black and white photo of Tom and one of them with their two children, Aurelia, two, and Bodhi, one.
