Kelsey Parker thanked everyone who has supported her this year following the death of her husband Tom Parker as she urges those who are missing someone this Christmas to be “kind” to themselves .
The Wanted singer died in March at the age of 33 after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Over the Christmas holidays, Kelsey, 32, shared on Instagram festive photos of her with their two young children and a message of support on how to get through the “holiday grief.”
She wrote: “Merry Christmas everyone. Thank you to everyone who commented and sent messages this year. I read them all and got so much support that really means the whole world.
“If you are missing someone today, remember that there is no right or wrong way to feel. Do what works for you and be kind to yourself.”
In an Instagram post on Christmas Eve, Parker revealed that it was the “little things” around the holiday that she found difficult without Tom.
She said the usual traditions like no longer buying his favorite Christmas food, not making a reservation for him at the table, or writing gift cards to their children for just the word “mom” now “feels so big”.
She added: “I delayed Christmas because to be honest, I was terrified of it.
“But it’s for the kids, they’ve always been a reason for me to wake up every day and find the positive, and never has that been truer than this week.
“Tomorrow there will be empty seats and tears, but there will also be smiles, laughter and dancing – just as you have been.”
Parker is working on a new six-part documentary series on ITVBe, Life After Tom, which she hopes will help keep the memory of her late husband alive, while also encouraging people to talk openly open about pain.
The singer announced in October 2020 that he had been diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma and had begun radiation and chemotherapy.
