Top 10 best electric cars

EIGHT YEARS. It’s the countdown to all new cars on Britain’s roads having to be powered by electricity.
But electric cars are too expensive, right?
Well they are currently more expensive than the average petrol or diesel car, but they will be cheaper and some are more affordable than you might think today.
Remember you’ll get an extra £1,500 from your EV as a grant if it’s also less than £32,000. Don’t worry, we’ve covered that here.
There was a time when Tesla ruled electric cars, but while they’re still cool, today you have a much wider choice of great electric vehicles.

And don’t worry, they’re not all tiny little city cars that the kids won’t fit in.
Of course they are, but we also have real family SUVs, station wagons and stylish hatchbacks for you.
And we’re not talking about cheap brands either. Even Audi features.
Importantly, all of our electric vehicles are priced below the cheapest Tesla on offer which is currently the Model 3 at £45,990.
Buying one of them with financing or running it as a company car while you work makes it even easier to afford for most.
1.Kia EV6
If you’re still thinking about Kia and thinking “meh”, then think again.
The Kia EV6 looks good, is packed with tech and quality, and will go up to 328 miles on a full charge. It costs from £41,695.
2. Hyundai Ioniq5
Below this Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the same as the Kia above but gets its own distinctive look inside and out.
It’ll turn heads on any high street, can travel up to 298 miles on a single charge, and is packed with the latest technology. Prices start at £37,600.
3. Peugeot e-208
The Peugeot e-208 is a small car with the comfort and design of a large car.
It feels a lot more expensive inside than its £28,695 starting price might suggest, and its 225-mile range will be more than enough if you’re spending most of your commute around town.
4.Skoda Enyaq
As with Kia, the jokes about Skodas seem like a distant memory.
These days, they’re often smarter than the VWs they’re based on, and The Enyaq is one of Skoda’s best models.
It’s spacious and practical, driving up to 331 miles and priced from £32,785.
5. Audi Q4 e-tron
If you like a fancier badge on the bonnet, the Audi Q4 e-tron is more likely to be you.
It’s essentially the same as the Skoda Enyaq underneath, but has a more upscale look and feel.
It costs more as a result, but starting at £43,150 it’s still less than a Tesla Model 3.
6. Volkswagen ID.3
We all know the Volkswagen Golf, but the VW ID.3 is Volkswagen’s Golf of the future.
It has a much more radical look, but is similarly roomy on the inside and is light and comfortable to ride.
It also has a reasonable range and price; up to 259 miles from £35,835.
7. Renault Megane E-Tech
Pricing for the Renault Megane E-Tech is yet to be confirmed, but you can reserve one now and we reckon it will cost comfortably less than £45,000. Think closer to £35,000.
Because you then get an excellent infotainment system, edgy looks and an impressive 292-mile range.
8. Mini electrics
The Mini of the past is iconic, but this is the Mini of the future.
It doesn’t go as far as most on a range, but Mini reckons 145 miles will be enough for its buyers.
However, it gets the same quirky exterior and interior, plus the quality and sharp drive that Mini owners love. It starts at £28,500.
9.MG5
The looks of the MG5 might not turn you on immediately, but give it a shot.
It has everything you could want and need, is very comfortable to drive and has space for a station wagon, and all from just £28,195.
You don’t get stingy range either; it will travel up to 250 miles between charges.
10. Fiat 500 Electric
Italy’s answer to the Mini is a constant sight on our roads, but the Fiat 500 has been updated for the modern era.
This stylish little electric vehicle is just as fun to drive and just as customizable, but still costs from a reasonable £23,835.
It will also handle more than a reasonable 199 miles between charges.
