Along with a main street full of shops, pubs and restaurants, Prestatyn boasts sandy beaches that visitors have praised for their cleanliness and the scenic walks on offer.
Sharing his positive experience on Tripadvisor, one visitor wrote: “This amazing stretch of golden sand stretches for miles. In fact you can hike along the coast from Prestatyn to Talacre or to Rhyl if you want a good walk.
“When we visited the beach it was clean and lifeguards were present. Despite being a very popular beach, it is so spacious that social distancing was not an issue.”
Another added: “Lots and lots of nice sand when the tide goes out. At low tide you can walk/bike for miles along the promenade. Worth a visit.”
Prestatyn wasn’t the only Welsh town to emerge as a staycation hotspot.
Carmarthen in Carmarthenshire has been another destination that has attracted British interest, with numerous museums and attractions such as Carmarthen Castle in the area, as well as the scenic walks around Carmarthen Bay. There is also a wide range of accommodation whether you are looking for a budget stay or you are looking for a lovely cottage.
Third on the podium was Aintree at Merseyside; With the Grand National taking place at Aintree Racecourse on April 9, it’s no surprise that Airbnb has seen an uptick in interest from Britons planning breaks in the area.
