Top Officials Targeted in Rocket Attack on Russian Headquarters

UKRAINE hit Russian headquarters in occupied Kherson with a long-range missile barrage yesterday during a meeting of senior officials.

Ideo footage filmed after the strike showed smoke billowing from the roof of the Court of Appeal in the city center as citizens fled the area.

According to Russian state media, when the rockets hit, pro-Kremlin collaborators were meeting in the place that served as the headquarters of the region’s occupation authorities.

Kirill Stremousov, the Russian-installed deputy head of Kherson, said the Ukrainian strike hit his office directly, with five US-provided Himars missiles hitting the area.

The attack appeared to mark a change in Kiev’s strategy, hitting the occupation forces’ civilian command centers, which had previously been spared long-range ammunition attacks.

An explosion in the city of Luhansk killed the prosecutor general of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic, the Moscow-backed separatist movement in eastern Donbass.

Western officials have claimed that one of the “unheralded successes” of recent counter-offensives in the Kherson and Kharkiv regions disrupted Moscow’s Russification attempts in its occupied territories.

The Ukrainian armed forces refused to acknowledge the strike

“There was smoke and ringing in my ears. I came to when someone pulled me out. A young man dragged me out of the ruins. I’m alive and back to work. We count our employees,” wrote Eketerina Gubareva, deputy head of the Russian-controlled Kherson City Hall, on the messaging app Telegram.
