Torchlight Infinite plans to overhaul some skills in preparation for Closed Beta Test 2

That’s no secret Torchlight infinite convinced us in the first closed beta test. Despite some fun games, there were certainly a number of things that needed editing, and the team at XD Entertainment listened. They recently released some updates on skills and other areas that they plan to address before Closed Beta 2 begins later this year.

In a closed beta post-mortem message on the Torchlight infinite Discord, XD Entertainment noted that they have compiled the feedback and aim to address the following features before Closed Beta 2 begins:

  • Gameplay Expansion – Netherrealm gameplay and time stamps are expanded with new features
  • Content Enrichment – New heroes, new storylines, new gameplay, and new build ways
  • Gameplay Optimization – Get a new system design, Netherrealm adjustments, optimizations and new additions to hero talents, as well as a new feature hero board

Since then, the team has put together a series of blog posts that suggest many of the skills have been revamped, including the Sentinel and Displacement skill categories. Guardians act as stationary totems that can buff you or damage your enemies. Sentinel abilities will see a number of updates to the God of Machines trait line, and several new Sentinels will be added in the next closed beta. You can read about the new Sentinel abilities in the latest developer blog.

For melee-oriented heroes, displacement abilities will have their own upgrades to look forward to. The new displacement abilities detailed in the last dev blog will be available to players wielding a wide range of melee weapons, along with the Blink Bow, made for bow and crossbow hunters. The two new melee abilities, Forward Slash and Spinning Blade, are much more movement-focused, allowing players to fight for fast-paced action on the move.

While no news has been announced as to when the Closed Beta 2 will begin, it looks like XD Entertainment is making some progress as they work towards the game’s release. XD hasn’t given an estimated release date as of yet, but their aggressive testing streaks may indicate the possibility that they’re pushing for a release sometime this year.
