Conservative MPs who will obediently vote against an unexpected tax and savings of up to £600 in soaring household energy bills deserve a kick in the ballot.

By turning down Labor’s offer to change a Queen’s Speech that does little to address the cost of living crisis, the Tories are on the wrong side of the argument.

If even the North Sea energy giants admit that a windfall tax would not reduce investment, the case for the tax is clear to almost everyone except the Conservative Party.

Boris Johnson, Rishi Sunak, Kwasi Kwarteng and the rest of them are fools who will pay dearly for this.

Politics is about whose side you’re on – the Tories are against ordinary people and pro-corporate.

Labor leader Keir Starmer has drawn a bold red dividing line between his party and Boris Johnson’s Conservatives.

The voters will remember this betrayal by the government at the next ballot.

Stop moaning

How many more children and adults have to die before the government cracks down on owners of dangerous dogs?

The heartbreaking abuse of three-year-old Daniel John Twigg will not be the last unless there is effective enforcement of robust public safety laws.

Responsible dog owners need not fear stricter controls. It is unacceptable to allow the irresponsible minority to terrorize, injure and, in extreme cases, kill people.

1 Dangerous Dogs Act Update. Only four dog breeds are currently banned – Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, Pit Bull Terrier and the Japanese Tosa. This list should be expanded to make it illegal to own, breed or sell other dangerous canine species.

2 Bring in a new law requiring owners to register certain dog breeds that could be potentially dangerous. Similar laws exist in France and Austria.

3 Anyone wishing to own a potentially dangerous dog breed should attend a training class and have the dog behaviorally evaluated.

All start

The clash of former international teammates Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney in the Wagatha Christie trial shows there will be no winners in this crazy case.

But the courtroom argument between their wives, Rebekah and Coleen, is now sorted when it comes to penalties.
