Torquay fire: Firefighters rush to the scene when a huge fire erupts on a ‘posh yacht’

Firefighters are working desperately to control a fire that has broken out on a “posh yacht” moored in Torquay in Devon.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Services was called at around 11.57am.
“85 foot motor boat on fire. The fire department called at 11:57 a.m. Three fire engines on site. Liaison with the harbor master,” the spokesman said.
An eyewitness in the area said Devon Live : “Massive fire near Pavilion, on Torquay Harborside I believe.”

Another eyewitness said the fire broke out around 12 noon on the boat, which was in the water next to a pontoon in the harbour.
“There were explosions,” they said.
“Ropes burned and it drifted into the pier.

“Firefighters took trolleys and pumps along pontoons, but there was not enough water.
“Some people are trapped at the other end of the pier and can’t go back. Firefighters run along the pier. Still huge flames.”
