Antonio Conte sees a huge clash with Liverpool in the Premier League

This coming weekend has the potential to be a season-defining one for Antonio Conte and his Tottenham Hotspur squad.

With just four games left, Spurs still have Champions League qualification in their own hands as they are a point behind Arsenal and host the Gunners in Thursday’s north London derby.

However, the gap to Arsenal could well widen this weekend. While Tottenham travel to quadruple contenders Liverpool on Saturday night, Mikel Arteta’s side welcome relegation-threatened Leeds United on Sunday.

If Spurs are able to exit the weekend with their fate still to be determined, that must be counted as a winning round of play.

Can Tottenham still qualify for the Champions League if they lose to Liverpool on Saturday? Let us know in the comments section below!

Klopp admits Spurs’ concern

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is concerned about the ‘insane’ attacking threat Tottenham face in the form of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

The duo are arguably the strongest partnership in the division and while goals have not flowed freely for Kane this season, only Mohamed Salah has hit the back of the net more times than Son in 2021-22.

Before the game, Klopp outlined the kind of threat he expects from Tottenham’s attackers.

“They have crazy speed up front, Harry Kane, what a player, they have a blind understanding (the frontmen),” he said. “This is probably the biggest protection challenge we have faced in a long time. We have to find a way to keep them quiet as much as possible.”

Arteta sends Champions League message

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes his team will need to beat Tottenham for the Champions League spot this season to reach the next level.

The rivalry between the two sides has added an extra dimension to the fight, as has Thursday’s upcoming north London derby at Spurs. Arteta signed a new contract with Arsenal on Friday and outlined his ambitions for the Gunners, with elite European football as the main focus.

“To take the club to the next level and really compete with the top teams,” he said. We have to play in the Champions League for that.”

Transfer targets checked

Ahead of the Liverpool clash, Conte said he hasn’t yet provided the club with a list of possible summer transfer targets as it would be too extensive.

Despite being able to move in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski in the January window, the Italian has been open in his desire to continue refreshing the squad.

That should be easier to do in the summer and mirror sport has looked at four potential players who could make a huge difference for the north London side next season.
