Eriksen hit by coin
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen made an incredible return for his Denmark national team as he scored his first touch of the ball in international football since suffering cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.
Eriksen had to put his entire career on hold after the harrowing scenes during his country’s game against Finland last summer as he was forced to leave Inter Milan as Italian football doesn’t allow players to use the cardioverter defibrillators ( ICD) implanted to use. However, he has now returned to professional football after signing for Premier League side Brentford in the closing hours of the January transfer window.
His fairytale return continued on Saturday night as he swept a low cross into the top corner from the right to score with his first touch on his return to international football, although Denmark ended up losing 4-2 to the Netherlands. And there were ignominious scenes after the game when the former Spurs ace was hit by a coin while conducting a post-game interview.
Alli’s embarrassing nightmare
Dele Alli could face the ax just months after signing for the club from Tottenham Hotspur at Everton.
The former England international was presented with an unlikely opportunity in a fresh start when Frank Lampard took over at the Toffees and signed him in the closing hours of the January transfer window. But the move already seems to be turning sour and reports suggest Alli’s new club could even be ready to ditch him when the transfer window opens this summer.
Spurs supports for the top 4
Stan Collymore has backed Arsenal to nip in the race for Champions League qualification – and reckons Spurs could be the side to overtake them.
Mikel Arteta’s side are currently in the driving seat with 10 games remaining but Collymore is so confident they won’t finish in the top four that he has promised a Gunners shirt with the Arsenal manager’s name on the back to wear if they prove wrong. Spurs are currently in fifth place, breathing down Arsenal in the race for Champions League qualification.
But Collymore says Spurs will face stiff competition for fourth place from another side.
