Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown believes his former club are not favorites for the Top 4 and backed rivals Tottenham in a bid to overtake their north London rival.

Despite being six points behind the Gunners, that hasn’t stopped the club or the pundits backing Antonio Conte’s side from doing the unthinkable with 10 games left. And one of the reasons the Lillywhites are seen as the top pick to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League the Italian manager is responsible.

If Spurs are to compete and do well in Europe’s top club cup competition, they need to retain current players, including a key duo.

Keown supports the Spurs

arsenal are currently six points clear of north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur after playing the same number of games.

With 10 games remaining before the end of the season, many would choose the Gunners to do the job and defend last place in the UEFA Champions League. But ex-Arsenal defender Martin Keown is unsure his old club can keep up with Spurs.

At BT Sports, Keown said there was “a long way to go”.

Conte gives club European hope

Tottenham are viewed fourth this season despite catching up against not just Arsenal but Arsenal as well Manchester United even.

There are many reasons the likes of former midfielder Danny Murphy and ex-Arsenal defender Martin Keown have both said they believe Spurs will get the job done. One of those reasons is having Antonio Conte in the dugout given his experience of winning titles not only in England but also in Italy.

Conte hopes his side can pick up three points against London rivals on Sunday west ham.

However, it must first be ensured that key players remain in the building before you can cast your net outside the club. And Tottenham have an important decision to make about two players, Emerson Royal and Steven Bergwijn, who have recently fallen down the pecking order.
