Nane-Iosana Bodea was on vacation in Thailand with friends visiting Na Muang waterfall on Koh Samui island when disaster struck while trying to take a picture
A tourist fell 50ft to her death after slipping on a mossy surface while posing for a photo at a beauty spot.
Nane-Iosana Bodea, 23, was on holiday in Thailand with friends and visited the Na Muang waterfall on the island of Koh Samui.
She had taken a bath in a pond near the waterfall.
Choosing a photo, Nane-Iosana of Romania slipped on a wet spot before falling to the rocks below in front of horrified onlookers.
Friend Manuel Opancar, 22, from Austria, said they walked to the top of the “steep and dangerous” waterfall before the disaster. Daily Star Reports.
He said he and the other viewers raced downstairs to try to save Nane-Iosana.
Heroic paramedics tried to take Nane-Iosan’s life, but unfortunately she died at the scene.
Rescue teams had to use ropes and a stretcher to retrieve her body from the rocks in a three-hour mission.
Her body was taken to Koh Samui Hospital for an autopsy.
The waterfall is notorious for its dangers and Thai authorities regularly warn tourists to be careful following tragedies in recent years.
In 2019, Bastien Palmier, 30, slipped and died in the same spot while taking a selfie.
And the Spaniard David Rocamundi Conesa, 26, died in the same year as Bastien at the waterfall in a cruel way.
In 2017, the Mirror reported how a British tourist miraculously survived the fall.
Luke Scott, 20, was also on holiday in Thailand with five friends, visiting nearby Na Muang waterfall on the island of Koh Samui, when the disaster struck.
As he neared the top of the water, he slipped and was swept down the fall by the water current.
Best pal Harvey Hughes watched in horror as his friend bounced off three different rocks before falling lifeless into the pool below.
He was treated by 15 paramedics and immediately rushed to a local hospital, where doctors were amazed to find him alive.
Despite sustaining multiple fractures of his face and skull, splitting the back of his head and shattering five teeth, Luke escaped with no brain damage.
After spending a week in two different hospitals, he returned to Carlisle.
