Toy Story musician Randy Newman cancels concerts in Europe after breaking his neck

Toy Story composer Randy Newman was forced to cancel his European tour after discovering his neck was broken.

The Oscar-winning musician, 78, said he was “really looking forward” to performing in Europe but has postponed his An Evening With Randy Newman tour, which was scheduled to begin in March.

In a statement, Newman said: “Recently, I’ve found myself shrinking. The people that I had towered over are now taller than me.

“Turns out, my neck was broken.”

Newman, who has also created music for Monsters Inc and Monsters University, said he had a “successful” surgery but he had to prolong his recovery.

“The doctor said I wasn’t ready to go on tour,” he added.

“I am really looking forward to going to Europe to perform. I miss a great performance and I look forward to a time when I can come.

“I’m sorry I won’t see you this time, but I’ll see you soon.”
