Traffic in Woodingdean has slowed as the houseboat heads to Brighton Marina
A houseboat has caused traffic as a convoy of vans attempt to take it to Brighton Marina.
The boat is transported on a large truck as vans flashing orange lights warned drivers of the oncoming vehicle.
Due to its size, the lorry had to drive on the opposite side of the road on Falmer Road, causing other vehicles to stop to let the “abnormal load” pass.
A passer-by said: “Two vans were there with orange flashing lights and a sign saying ‘abnormal cargo’.
I imagine the boat going to the marina, but for now it’s crawling down Falmer Road.
“All the cars across the street had to stop. It’s so big I don’t know which way it’s going to take to get to the marina.”
It has not been confirmed that the boat, which is currently in the back of the lorry at Woodingdean, will be taken to Brighton Marina.
Passers-by added that they thought traffic in the area would be affected for some time.
