Train route between Falmer and Lewes closed due to hay bales on route

A railway track is currently closed because of a hay bale, passengers are warned of delays.

No trains run between Falmer and Lewes while teams from Southern and Network Rail work to remove the haystack.

The incident was first reported at 4.33pm this afternoon.

A Southern spokesman said: “There is an obstacle on the route between Falmer and Lewes.

“Trains running from Falmer to Lewes are currently unable to run.

“A limited service may still run in the opposite direction, but these may be delayed or revised.”

Passengers are advised to use their Brighton and Hove bus tickets.
