Trainwreck Review: Woodstock ’99 – Netflix series examines what led to chaos at festival and it’s an incredible watch

In 2019, Netflix scored an unlikely success with Fyre, a strangely gripping documentary about an ill-fated ‘luxury music festival’ in The Bahamas. And they might as well have another winner on their hands with Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99. Released yesterday, the three-part documentary excelled at charting the chaos that ensued at a former air force base in upstate New York in July 1999, as an attempt to monetize from the legacy of the spectacularly successful original Woodstock concert.

Over three sweltering days, extreme heat, lack of basic facilities and the stupidity of some of the performers created a deadly powder barrel situation.
