Premier League transfers: All the stars linked to moves before the summer window closes

In the latest summer transfer news, Manchester United are getting closer to signing Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, while Chelsea continue talks with Barcelona over a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Independent expects Casemiro to sign a four-year deal with an option for a further year at Old Trafford, with the clubs set to agree a €60m fee plus potential surcharges for the five-time Champions League winners.

Casemiro trained at Real Madrid this morning but his coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed the Brazil international will leave the club. “He wants to try a new challenge, a new opportunity,” said Ancelotti. “He wants to go.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea continue their busy summer of transfer business and remain interested in Frenkie de Jong, Wesley Fofana and Anthony Gordon, as well as a move from striker Aubameyang, who is said to be keen on a Premier League return. In other news, Nottingham Forest have signed 22-year-old midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves for an initial £25m that could rise to over £42m.

Elsewhere, Cristiano Ronaldo has been offered a way out of Manchester United by Sporting Lisbon, while United are one of several clubs interested in loaning Chelsea striker Christian Pulisic. Follow the latest news, rumors and closed deals below.

Pep Guardiola doesn’t expect any more Man City signings this summer

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola does not expect his side to do business in the transfer window.

City signed Sergio Gomez for the fifth summer season earlier this week. The Anderlecht left-back follows Julian Alvarez, Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips and Stefan Ortega to the Etihad Stadium.

But Guardiola has been told there is less than two weeks into the transfer window.

When asked if their business was done, he said: “Apparently yes. But if someone moves or there’s a problem, we don’t expect it might happen, but apparently it’s settled.”

Brighton boss Graham Potter dismisses transfer interest in Moises Caicedo

Graham Potter said Moises Caicedo is loved at Brighton and Hove Albion and is a “pleasure to work with” as he dismissed transfer speculation about the midfielder.

Ecuador international Caicedo has shone since his Albion debut in April, forging ties with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool.

The 20-year-old has played just 10 top-flight games and lost just once in his fledgling career, and Seagulls head coach Potter is excited about his potential.

Lampard can’t guarantee Chelsea target Gordon will stay at Everton

Frank Lampard has said he wants Anthony Gordon to stay at Everton and improve them rather than join Chelsea – but admitted he cannot guarantee the winger will still be at Goodison Park when the transfer window closes, writes Richard Jolly.

Everton this week turned down an offer for the 21-year-old estimated at up to £45m – but while Lampard believes Gordon has tremendous value and is worth more than some players who have opted for big fees, he insisted it was not a negotiating ploy to get Chelsea to up their offer.

Pep Guardiola is unsure about Bernardo Silva’s future

Despite reports this week suggesting Manchester City are confident of keeping Bernardo Silva this summer, Pep Guardiola says he is still uncertain about the midfielder’s future despite interest from Barcelona and PSG. “He’s our player. He knows our desires. I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Guardiola said.

Chelsea target Fofana is set to be left out of the Leicester squad

Wesley Fofana has asked to be left out of Leicester’s squad for tomorrow’s game against Southampton as speculation of a move to Chelsea continues, according to the Athletic report.

Brendan Rodgers said yesterday he would be ready to drop Fofana from plans if his head is not in the right place after starting the defender away at Arsenal last weekend.

Rodgers also said Leicester had not received any further offers for the defender after Chelsea’s first two approaches were rejected. The Foxes are waiting for a world-record fee for a defender.

Frank Lampard on the interest of Chelsea’s Anthony Gordon

Frank Lampard has confirmed Chelsea target Anthony Gordon will play against Nottingham Forest tomorrow.

Everton have turned down an offer of around £40m for the Chelsea winger, insisting he is not for sale.

“He’s an Everton player so I don’t want to talk about what could be,” said Lampard.

“He’s a tremendous asset to the team and a valuable asset to the club – a connection with the fans. That is the story of Anthony Gordon.”

Thomas Tuchel on Chelsea transfers

Chelsea remain confident as they continue to target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Wesley Fofana and Anthony Gordon, and Thomas Tuchel confirmed the club are still looking for signings.

“We work together on reinforcements, but it’s never easy. We can’t just wish for something and it will happen. As long as the transfer window is open, there are always opportunities. The focus is on what we have, not what we could have.

“I think we can compete with this group, but it’s one thing to compete once a week and another to compete 60 times a year, three times a week. You need a strong group.

“We are still active in the market and know what is possible. We are looking for a high quality and personality that suits our group and squad.”

Erik ten Hag about Ronaldo at the latest

The Manchester United manager was also asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future following the club’s loss to Brentford and the forward’s hiring full-time.

Ten Hag: “I don’t know why he’s the focus after Saturday. It was the team effort, the attitude of the whole team, including Ronaldo. He’s in our plans, I can say that.”

Erik ten Hag on Casemiro transfer

Erik ten Hag has remained silent about the impending signing of Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro ahead of his side’s game against Liverpool on Monday night.

Should Casemiro be signed before the game, he won’t be able to register in time as the deadline was 12pm this afternoon.

Man Utd are considering a loan move for Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic

Manchester United are considering a possible loan move for Christian Pulisic as the Chelsea winger looks to earn more regular playing time away from Stamford Bridge, writes Mark Critchley.

The 23-year-old made just 13 league starts under Thomas Tuchel last season and appeared as a substitute in each of Chelsea’s opening games of the new season.

Pulisic has attracted interest from Newcastle United, Juventus, Milan and Atletico Madrid as he seeks regular minutes before playing for the United States at this winter’s World Cup. Transfer news LIVE: Casemiro’s move to Manchester United from Carlo Ancelotti confirmed
