Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd target Adrien Rabiot, Guido Rodriguez and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Premier League: Five essential tips for your fantasy team

The new Premier League season is underway but the transfer window seems to be the main attraction for many as Manchester United are likely to dominate the headlines in recent weeks after losing to Brighton and Erik ten Hag is desperate for reinforcements. Realistic targets include Adrien Rabiot and Marko Arnautovic, while Guido Rodriguez and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic continue to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Then there’s the saga of Frenkie de Jong and his future at the Camp Nou that continues, and Manchester United and Chelsea remain heavily linked with the Barcelona midfielder. The Spaniards want Bernardo Silva to replace him if a deal with Man City goes through, while Marcos Alonso could join Catalonia from Stamford Bridge.

Elsewhere, Thomas Tuchel has hinted at the need for more players despite a win at Everton, with Wesley Fofana linked with the Blues. Fofana’s departure could give Leicester ammunition for signing players as the Foxes are the only club in Europe’s top five leagues without a new player to have already lost goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and midfielder James Maddison is wanted from Newcastle, meaning Brendan Rodgers could be busy after watching his side go 2-0 up against Brentford to open the season. RB Leipzig beat Manchester United to Benjamin Sesko transfer

RB Leipzig have confirmed the signing of Benjamin Sesko from Red Bull Salzburg in the latest high-profile deal between the sister clubs.

The 19-year-old Slovenia international will stay with the Austrian champions this season before starting a five-year deal with Leipzig next summer.

Manchester United were one of several clubs interested in Sesko but Leipzig won the race.

“Benjamin Sesko is one of the best young talents in Europe and has a lot of potential,” said Leipzig’s technical director, Christopher Vivell, in a club statement.

Sesko joins a prominent list of deals between the two clubs, both owned by drinks company Red Bull until 2017 when Uefa intervened over integrity concerns in the Champions League.

Chelsea and Leicester split £10m valuation of Wesley Fofana

Chelsea are currently £10m behind Leicester City’s valuation for Wesley Fofana as the London club prepare another offer that could trigger their busiest period of the window. The Stamford Bridge hierarchy are also working on deals for Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

While Leicester’s public stance says neither Fofana nor James Maddison are for sale, sources close to the situation insist the club’s financial circumstances – which the Thai owners’ duty-free deal has suffered through two years of the pandemic – are likely to have to go, albeit at high prices.

The sentiment in the market is that Fofana is available for £80m and Maddison for £60m. Newcastle United are slightly behind at the latter price and Leicester would be more interested in keeping the playmaker.

ESPN say Tottenham will initially pay £15million with a range of performance-related add-ons worth around £6million, with the 19-year-old likely to face a medical in Italy this week.

Should Udogie’s transfer be finalized, he will become Antonio Conte’s seventh summer signing after Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, Fraser Forster, Djed Spence, Yves Bissouma and Clement Lenglet.

Manchester United are pursuing Sergei Milinkovic-Savic after Adrien Rabiot deal

Juventus have reportedly agreed to a sale Adrian Rabiot to Manchester United for an initial £15m. According to The Guardian, talks over personal terms for the 27-year-old France midfielder are still at an early stage as they still need the approval of his agent and mother. The paper notes he has been successful with five Ligue 1 titles at Paris St Germain plus another in Serie A, but he also has a mixed disciplinary record, including fines for delays.

The Red Devils are also said to be interested in the Lazio Serbia midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, with whom they have been associated for a number of years. But the Telegraph reports that agents believe a deal can actually be struck for the 27-year-old.

Chelsea prepare new offer for Fofana

Chelsea’s summer of spending looks set to continue as Fabrizio Romano says the club are preparing a new offer for Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana.

The Foxes rejected a £70million offer last week and insist the defender is not for sale, but Chelsea seem confident they can get their man at the right price.

FC Copenhagen signs Ryan

Former Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan has joined FC Copenhagen from Real Sociedad. The 30-year-old Australia international has signed a two-year deal.

“We are getting an experienced and strong goalkeeper in his prime who will compete with our other goalkeepers,” says FCK sporting director Peter Christiansen. “We were looking for reinforcements in the goalkeeper position after Kamil Grabara’s injury and we are very satisfied with the solution, which will ensure more competition and quality in this position in the short and long term. “Maty has played many games in some of the biggest leagues in the world and still has a lot of hunger to do well for FCK and for Australia at the World Cup. “We are happy to have him in the team and are sure that he will strengthen our squad.”

The 19-year-old Slovenian striker joins from RB Salzburg and has signed a contract until 2028. Sesko will be loaned back to Salzburg for the coming season before moving to the Bundesliga side in 2023.

United, meanwhile, are expected to return from Bologna with an improved offer for Marko Arnautovic after a £7.5million bid was rejected last week, while Guido Rodriguez and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic continue to be linked with the Old Trafford move.
