Rosanna Davison shared a picture with her Ukrainian surrogate who recently arrived safely in Ireland after being trapped in her war-torn home country for months.
When the Russian invasion first began in February, Ms Davison contacted Ukrainian Anastasiia Berezan, who gave birth to her first child, Sophia (2), through surrogacy in November 2019.
She asked Ms. Berezan to come and stay with Sophia and twins Hugo and Oscar (1), but shortly thereafter the woman’s hometown of Kherson was surrounded and she was trapped there.
Last month, Ms Davison said Anastasiia and her family were trapped in a “horrific” situation.
However, in an Instagram post tonight, the former Miss World said Anastasiia and her family landed on the Irish coast after a “long and traumatic journey”.
“Good news: On April 25, after a long and traumatic journey from Ukraine, my daughter’s surrogate mother, Anastasiia Berezan, arrived safely in Ireland with her family,” Ms Davison wrote.

In a comment below the post, Ms. Davison’s husband, Wesley Quirke, described Ms. Berezan as an “incredibly brave, kind woman.”
“I first met this incredibly brave, kind woman in Kyiv in 2019, just before she gave birth to our baby girl, Sophia,” he wrote.
“At the time, we couldn’t even find the words to express our gratitude for having our long-awaited baby. When the war started in February we offered her a safe home in Ireland. She gave us the greatest gift of all and now it was our turn to help her. It took two months to finally escape Kherson City in southern Ukraine and getting her from Poland to Germany and then Ireland with her husky was a huge logistical challenge!
“But we made it through with the help of some very generous, compassionate people including my wonderful parents and many of my friends who have been so generous with their time and support – you know who you are and I can’t thank you enough! “
Mr Quirke added: “They have settled into their new home in Ireland and found their feet. There is so much community support for Ukrainian families in Ireland and they really appreciate all the kindness. The Irish really are amazing.”
