Travel expert reveals 3 unusual items he always takes with him when he travels

Deciding what to pack on vacation is always a difficult one – with hundreds of expensive luggage and gadget options to choose from.
But a travel expert has revealed three unusual items they always take on a trip – and they won’t break the bank.
Seasoned traveler Peter Rothbart said that one of the items he packs when he travels is something you might even have lying around the house – silica gel packet.
Often found in clothing and food packaging, the small sachets are used to prevent moisture from damaging the products.
The same theory can be applied to your luggage when you go on vacation, and if you toss a few packets between your clothes and your electronics, they’re less likely to get damp.
Peter tells insider: “I put them in my shoes overnight when I’m hiking, and I keep a few in my camera bag or with other electronics when the humidity is high.”

If you don’t have any at home, you can buy them from now on £4.95 from Amazon.
The next thing Peter encourages travelers to take with them is something you probably have in your wallet, purse, or drawer.
He said he always packs a stamp – which costs around 70p – in case he ever needs to mail anything.
Depending on where you are, a post office may not be easy to find, and if you have a last-minute card or important document that needs to be mailed, you can waste a lot of time trying to find one.
If you have a stamp with you, this stress is eliminated and you can send your letter without much effort.
Peter said: “If I don’t live near a post office or in a hotel where I can buy postage, a stamp saves me up to an hour of valuable vacation time.”
The last item Peter always packs is a mini flashlight, which can be bought for as little as possible £2.99 on Amazon.
Although most people have a flashlight on their phone, if your phone dies you won’t have any light, so it’s handy to have a separate flashlight available.
Peter said, “It’s great for nighttime use outside of urban areas, to facilitate a late arrival in a dark Airbnb rental, or simply as a reading light.”

Frequent flyers gave it away cheap items that they always have with them in your hand luggage, which could save you time, money or stress.
