Travelodge launches new luxury hotel rooms

Travelodge Hotels are undergoing a major makeover this year, with the introduction of new “luxury” hotel rooms, as well as updates to the hotel’s reception desks and restaurants.

The budget hotel chain is giving 60 of its UK hotels a makeover this year in what Chief Executive Craig Bonnar has described as the “most radical transformation of the brand to date”.

Rooms get an all-new “budget-luxe-premium look” with amenities like box-frame king-size beds outfitted with softer lights, plus bedside reading lights and USB charging stations.

When you go to sleep, the room’s blackout curtains will surely come in handy, too.

The rooms are also equipped with a large working desk and desk chair, a separate ‘comfortable statement armchair’, a TV with Freeview and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.

The new makeover will also include a fresh coat of paint with Travelodge’s classic navy blue scheme, lullaby-inspired artwork, white decor in the bathrooms, and rugs made from recycled fishing nets.

Not only the rooms are upgraded.

As part of the redesign, the hotels’ reception areas will be redesigned with decorative panels, soft LED lighting, leather banquettes and wooden floors.

When it comes to snacking, the brand’s bar-cafes offer dedicated zones for business and leisure travelers, including counter seating, booths and banquettes for larger groups.

Five hotels are already being renovated; The London locations Southwark, Vauxhall and Wembley as well as the hotels Southampton and Thame. The refurbishment is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
