A father who was reportedly killed during an altercation at a bar was remembered by his daughter as “one of a kind”.
Michael McDonagh died on Friday August 5 at Parkdean Resorts holiday park in Camber Sands.
Ambulance services were called to Lydd Road around 10.50pm after reports of an altercation between a group of people.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, a 53-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene in the early hours of Saturday.
His next of kin have been informed.
The police have since arrested seven people on suspicion of murder. All remain in custody.
In a heartfelt tribute on social media, Michael’s daughter Erin said it felt “like a bad dream.”
“You broke so many hearts, dad. You’ve been the best dad to us,” she said.
“You used to pet Mommy all the time. She’s lost without you, dad.
“You always took care of her. Best husband for her. she loves you so much
“I love you dad.”
It is believed Michael got into an argument during the Crystal Palace v Arsenal game at The Showbar at Parkdean Resorts holiday park.
Celine Ward also paid tribute to her uncle, calling Michael a “legend.”
“Oh god, Uncle Michael, I can’t believe it. You do not deserve that.
“I really can’t believe you’re gone. Take care of your whole family.
“You will be missed forever. RIP popular Michael McDonagh. Our great Michael.
“How can the world be so cruel.”
Detective Superintendent Jon Hull said: “Our investigation is at a very early stage but I would like to reassure the public that this appears to be an isolated case with no major risk of harm.
“Officials are now working to establish the full circumstances, while the victim’s relatives are being assisted by specialized officers.”
